Russian Ministry of Construction Switched to Domestic Video Conferencing and PBX

HighTech-Integration, SATEL and IVA Technologies have finished the creation of a digital platform for unified communications for the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation. The Ministry ordered a unified communication environment to ensure effective workplace interaction. It was supposed to fully replace the previous solution built on Avaya products, since the company had gone out of business in Russia. During the project, the IVA MCU video conferencing system and the PBX network based on RTU platform were integrated.

As part of the planned activities for the project implementation, special attention was paid to several aspects. It was necessary to ensure seamless integration of RTU platform (developed by SATEL) with the IVA MCU video conferencing services (developed by IVA Technologies), as well as uninterrupted performance for the users of the telephone network of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation. Since the previously existing PBX remained functioning until the new solution was fully ready for commissioning, the transition to the RTU platform was unnoticed by the departments of the Ministry.

«RTU unified communication platform is a multi-component solution that can be used to deliver a wide range of communications services. Possible options include voice assistants and chatbots, a messenger for various online communications, groupware, speech recognition solutions, etc. Such multifunctionality maximally expands the scope of RTU application, ” says Roman Romanov, Deputy General Director for Development at SATEL. «In addition, RTU quickly adapts to a customer’s IT landscape, therefore, in this project we managed to modernize telephone networks while maintaining the continuous operation of the previously existing telephone exchange, which was of particular importance for the Russian Ministry of Construction.»

At the stage of commissioning, SATEL technical staff paid special attention to checking the readiness of all infrastructure components. After successful integration of the PBX into the customer’s network, it became possible to create and configure user accounts and customer features. At the current stage, up to 700 users can be connected to the PBX. Given the flexible scalability of the RTU platform, in the future it is possible to increase the number of users up to 200 thousand.

The IVA MCU video conferencing platform is designed for full-fledged secure interaction in a unified interface, providing video and audio calls, messaging (messenger) and document transfer, and video conferencing with an additional set of multi-user functions. All extensive function set of the system is available to its users through the unified IVA Connect client, which can run on mobile devices and PCs (including those running Russian OS). IVA MCU has a virtually unlimited scalability reserve, is not demanding on communication channels and the performance of end devices, which can be either PCs (Windows, MacOS, Astra Linux) or mobile devices (Android, iOS and Aurora).

«Domestic video conferencing platforms have not differed in maturity from foreign solutions for quite some time now. Their use does not impose any functional restrictions on users at all, while ensuring effective internal and external communication, ” says Maxim Smirnov, Deputy General Director of IVA Technologies. «IVA MCU video conferencing system seamlessly integrates with products from other vendors, so the comprehensive solution created for the Russian Ministry of Construction is a single platform for unified communication, which, despite its modular structure, has a common control center and totally compatible services.»
